Space Constraint
These before
and after photos of a telecommunications closet illustrates our
challenge to clean up an existing installation without bringing users
down for an extended period of time. The "before" pictures below
illustrate that the client could not enter the 3' X 3' space to service
the network, reboot a router, change ports, etc.

We replaced the standing floor racks with a wall-mounted patch panel.

Next, we mounted the routers, added a power strip, color-coded and labeled all jacks for easy identification. The result?

A
much cleaner and more space-efficient installation than what we
originally saw. We met our customer's budget and made the most of
existing space. The client can now enter the room with ease, making
whatever changes are necessary. In addition, we added a laminated patch
panel layout detailing all ports with their corresponding numbers.
Finally, we posted a floor plan on the inner closet wall with the
voice/data drops noted and numbered for ease of use.
